"Ashik Kerib" (1988) is based on an Azeri love story, a fairy tale
by Sergei Paradjanov's favourite Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov. "Ashik Kerib" was screened
at the Venice Film Festival, New York Film Festival and won the European Film Academy's Felix Award. The film
is dedicated to Andrei Tarkovsky.
